HONORING THE PAST,
CULTIVATING THE FUTURE
TAMOA is a social entrerprise that distributes native products from Mexico, such as maíz, frijol, and chile, to restaurants in Mexico, the United States, Canada, and Europe.
At TAMOA, we firmly believe that food should embody DIVERSITY, INTEGRITY, FLAVOR and tRANSPARENCY.
With persisting commitment, we work towards a food system that embodies these core values.
The earth is vibrant, flavorful, and brimming with variety. The well-being of our planet relies on embracing and celebrating this rich diversity of life.
By using ingredients from TAMOA, you’re helping to preserve diverse heirloom crops for generations to come and supporting the communities that cultivate these crops. By choosing diversity and rejecting homogenization, you’re playing a part in sustaining life itself.
- Our partner farmers cultivate a variety of heirloom corn, beans, chiles, and cacao that have been preserved through generations.
- They use agricultural systems that prioritize biodiversity, such as the milpa, to nurture these unique crops and the land.
At Tamoa, farmers are at the heart of everything we do.
We cut out intermediaries, and foster long-term, trusting partnerships with farmers, their families, and their communities. Tamoa’s network of chefs, cooks and tortillerías is equally vital to the new food system we’re working to build.

By sharing knowledge and providing tools, communities can better adapt to changing weather patterns, soil conditions, and market demands.
Ongoing projects:
Tierra de Monte, our sustainable agriculture ally works with partner farmers, combining scientific and local knowledge to improve soil health, replace agrochemicals for biological inputs, increase yields, and foster ecosystem regeneration.
We collaborate with artists, craftspeople, photographers, and other creatives to amplify our efforts and celebrate cross-team collaborations.
From the outset, we’ve emphasized that the milpa and its crops extend beyond the fields, influencing everyday cultural life.
For example, we partnered with ALMA design studio and Berke Gold to upcycle our sacks and transform them into totes. They’re perfect for groceries, books, or whatever you want to throw into them.
Friendly reminder, if your restaurant already has more totes than they can handle, consider donating them to nearby grocery stores or farmers’ markets.
